Mr. Alan Case
General Electric Corporation

Building 37, Room 679

Dear Mr. Case:
\J
Enclosed is our current literature and price list for Vicarm
manipulator systems. We currently offer two models. Both are all
electric powered, computer controlled devices intended for groups such as
yours doing research and development work in industrial automation and
automatic assembly. At this time we do not recommend that you use our
system on multiple shift, high cycle, critical path type industrial
tasks.
You have mentioned an immediate need for a manipulator. Our current
delivery schedule is 5-6 months. The best delivery we could promise is
the end of January 1977, for an order received before the end of the
month with a 25% deposit or a 6% premium required. For any standard
orders, delivery would be March 15 at the earliest.
Mr. Carlisle mentioned that we had a cancellation clause in effect at
the present time. Well, forget this. We will unconditionally deliver on
any order you place with us before December 1.
I have also enclosed a copy of our current software instruction set.
This is continuously being expanded and we would include these additions
in any order we deliver to you. Current software development efforts
include relative transforms (allowing for repositioning of complete
tasks), path control (allows working on a moving belt, or rotary table),
utilization of external inputs from touch and force sensors and vision,
and looping and branching, plus numerous other instructions. The software
we normally supply with the LSI-11 based system is the object code only,
which allows one to program, store and save arm tasks using our VAL
language. Should you wish to do furthur software development on your own,
we offer the source code for an additional $10,000. This is well
documented and commented, and details our entire language, the equations
we use, and the structure of our system.
Vicarm will have a booth at the forthcomming Robotics show in Chicago.
We will have one of our model M.I.T. arms running on an LSI-11. Should you
or a colleage be planning to attend, you are welcome to come and program
the arm yourself.
Should you have any furthur questions, please contact me directly.\.
